Rev. Dr. Ambrose Carroll
FOUNDER GREEN THE CHURCH

The Rev. Dr. Ambrose Carroll, Sr., senior pastor at Renewal Worship Center Oakland, CA, is one of the nation’s premiere Practical Theologians. After graduating from Oakland High School in 1987, Ambrose went on to do his undergraduate work at Florida Memorial College in Miami, FL. He further received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, GA, a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) from United Theological Seminary in Dayton Ohio, and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA. Ryan DC Carroll
DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

Ryan DC Carroll, as the Director of Administration, is a member of the leadership team and is responsible for directing GTC's administrative operations, providing senior management and staff with technical support for the development and implementation of processes and other support services to improve and maintain the administrative health of the organization and the information technology infrastructure .

Born and raised in Oakland,CA, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Technology from Florida Memorial University in South Florida. Since joining the Green The Church team in 2013, he has become a passionate voice in the fight for environmental sustainability. He also serves as the church administrator at The Church by the Side of the Road in Berkeley, CA. Carroll’s motto is: “Seek God first and serve the people of God.”

Audrey Hollins
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Audrey Hollins is the Director of Finance for Green The Church (GTC) overseeing GTC's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee at Church by The Side of The Road in Berkeley, CA. 

Hollins retired from the State Bar of California/Ethics Department. She also was a Board Committee Coordinator, consulting with committee chairs and executive staff members during her time with the department. 

Audrey attended College of Alameda in Alameda, CA and she has an A.A. in Business Administration. In her spare time, Audrey sells African American gift cards and items during the holidays. 

Joan Hawkins
OUTREACH COORDINATOR

Joan Hawkins is the Development Associate for Green The Church.  Joan is primarily responsible for assisting with contacting and developing relationships with donors and sponsors and in managing grant awards. She works closely with the development director and other staff members to identify potential sources of donations and track the progress of fundraising campaigns.

She is also the Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School at Church By The Side of The Road in Berkeley, CA.  Joan’s focus includes education and environmental, economic, and social justice. She has worked with the Oral Lee Brown Foundation (an Oakland California nonprofit dedicated to helping children attain a college education). Joan has also served on the Executive Committees of the NAACP Oakland Branch, and Friends of The Oakland Branch, while advocating for clean air, educational equality, and access to higher education. Joan strives to create a better future for tomorrow’s leaders. 

Shannon Fowler
COMMUNICATIONS & DEVELOPMENT

Shannon Fowler serves as Editor and Grant Writer for GTC. She is responsible for identifying and researching funding sources and preparing proposals and LOIs to a variety of organization in accordance with GTC’s strategic business goals and objectives.

Shannon came to Green The Church after having served the American Cancer Society for twelve years in multiple capacities, from operations and regional director to grant writer for the western US, Pacific Rim, and Africa. 

A resident of Southern CA, she has conducted a synagogue choir for over twenty years and sings professionally for organizations of several different faith traditions.

Rev. Julius Xavier Van Hook
GREEN TEAM ADVISOR

The Rev. Julius Xavier Van Hook currently serves as the Green Team Advisor for Green The Church. In addition, Rev Van Hook is the Director of Spiritual Care and Interfaith Juvenile Chaplain for the Contra Costa Probation Department and Executive Director of ICHANGE (Interfaith Chaplaincy Affirming a New Generation of Excellence), a non- profit organization birthed out of his ministry. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, he received a B.A. in Organizational Management from Patten University, Oakland, Ca, a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, Portland, Or. Four units of ACPE Certified Clinical Pastoral Education Units from The Shaw Chaplaincy Institute at the University of The Redlands, San Anselmo, Ca and The Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Walnut Creek, Ca,.
