Atlantic Fellows Shines Spotlight on Rev. Dr. Carroll and Green the Church

I am very excited to share with you all a collaboration I've completed with an organization I have admired for years.

Atlantic Fellows is a community of "courageous, compassionate, and collaborative thinkers and doers," people "who collectively seek to bring lasting improvements to their communities and the world."

The fellowship was built from conversations and relationships fostered through the activities of The Atlantic Institute, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that seeks to build "a global community through education, interfaith dialogue, and meaningful social experiences."

I had the honor of sharing my thoughts and introducing the Atlantic Fellows readership community to the amazing work we are doing here at Green The Church. My article, "The moral call of a just transition", was published and featured just a few days ago on Atlantic Fellows' "Global Perspectives" thought leadership column. The article is being highlighted and promoted again by the organization today — because it is a very special day!

June 5 is World Environment Day. It was established by the UN back in 1972 as a way to promote not just environmental stewardship but also the powerful capacity of human beings to interact, collaborate, and heal our Mother Earth.

Here is a sample of the piece, published in the spirit of World Environment Day:

Environmental justice is not separate from social justice. In many Black and marginalized communities, we are on the frontlines of climate change while often being the last to benefit from clean air investments, green infrastructure, or renewable energy opportunities. A just transition must ensure that those most impacted are not left behind but centered in solutions.

Through Green The Church, we mobilize congregations and faith leaders to see climate care as sacred work. Houses of worship are trusted institutions, and they have the power to educate and organize communities around energy efficiency, clean technology, sustainable practices and economic opportunity.

Also, check out the Atlantic Fellows Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn to see my piece and the work of Green The Church promoted across their channels as part of World Environment Day!

Please consider engaging with or sharing these posts to spread the word. Let's show everyone why Green The Church is a powerful, growing movement to build environmental justice and resilience into our communities by building Decarbonization Hubs in faith institutions all across the country.

In peace, with blessings, and love for Creation,
Rev. Dr. Ambrose F. Carroll, Sr.
