Palm Beach County, Florida | October 10-12, 2027

Green The Church's National Summits give those in the Black church community the opportunity to gather from all across the country, sharing ideas, tools, and inspiration to further restorative justice and green liberation. Together, we commit to making a positive impact, both within our communities and upon our planet, as a whole.

Dates are now set for the 2027 National Summit, which will take place in Palm Beach County, Florida from Oct 10–12, 2027.

This year’s theme: Resilience: Cultivating Community Readiness and Faith-Based Nonprofit Leadership.

Joining Intentionally in a Region Facing High Climate Risks

We have chosen Palm Beach County as the site of our next National Summit because of the imminent risks to the region, not in spite of them.

According to one flood map study, over 90% of buildings in Palm Beach County are at risk of flooding in the next year.  Neighborhoods carrying the deepest historical disinvestment face the highest risks of flooding and other climate-related disasters.

​2026-2027 are set to be some of the hottest years on record, and marginalized communities are the most likely to suffer some of the harshest effects. As we enter into the planning season for our 2027 National Summit, this concern will be at the top of our mind.

Our 10th Green The Church National Summit uses that context to set intention: we will help communities in Palm Beach County and across the U.S. develop ways to become more resilient, with the church at the center of the movement.

​Our Scriptural Foundation

Two passages anchor everything about this summit:

“Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” — Nehemiah 2:17–18

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” — Matthew 7:24–27

Together, these excerpts paint a picture of a church community that must strengthen itself from within: planning, building, and embracing its role as a rock for the community to gather in times when we face our deepest challenges ...so that we may then rebuild.

Building Resilience Hubs With Many Faith Community Leaders, Side-by-Side

Green The Church encourages all leaders to attend, not just those who help spread the word and guide from the pulpit. That means in addition to pastors and clergy, we want all trustees, deacons, Christian educators, and everyday church members all have a seat at the table.

All have a role to play as we build resilience hubs, work to decarbonize church operations, and prepare for trials that may lay ahead.

A main objective is to help attendees use the information they learn and then connections they forge to reinforce their organizational structure to act like an effective and well-built nonprofit. We will also equip faith and community leaders with tools to help them launch other new nonprofits.

These new organizations form the seed of a movement that can grow and spread, with roots spreading deep to hold us fast when trials come our way.

Get Set to Grow and Strengthen as a Movement

Many will remember our last National Summit, which took place in Atlanta on Oct 12–14, 2025. That event featured dozens of electrifying speakers and presenters, who offered words of inspiration and action-focused ideas to take back to our communities as we fight for Green Liberation.

For over 15 years, Green The Church has grown a movement within the Black church and alongside other faith institutions to make a difference at the local and regional level. We hope you will join us for the 2027 National Summit as we renew that commitment to help restore local ecosystems and avert the worst effects of climate on our communities.
